Michigan Football 2011: Hard Not to Look Ahead to Notre Dame in Week Two

For the 10th year in a row the Michigan Wolverines will square off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This time the game happens on week two, so it can be a little tempting to overlook the current opponent each team will be playing.

Michigan will play the Western Michigan Broncos week one in the big house. Now, nobody really believes the Broncos can actually beat the Wolverines but anything can happen in sports, right? The Broncos may have the best offense in the MAC and although that isn't saying much, they did average 32 points a game and 285 passing yards last season.

Junior quarterback Alex Carder is a very underrated quarterback who threw for over 3,300 yards and 30 touchdowns a season ago.

The Broncos defense is a major question mark as they finished ninth in the MAC a year ago, giving up almost 700 yards a game. Can you say brutal?

Again, nobody really believes the Broncos have a chance against the Wolverines but you don't want to overlook them. You also would like to play well to have things clicking going into a huge week two match up against a potential BCS bowl team.

You don't want this to be another Appalachian State.
