Carmelo Anthony Trade Rumors Persist As the Knicks' Owner Gets Involved, But Why?
James Dolan has stuck his grubby little paw into the negotiations over Carmelo Anthony and his services for the rest of the season according to the New York Daily News. Dolan has spoken directly to Denver owner Stan Kroenke according to the report.
If I'm a Knicks fan, this scares the crap out of me. James Dolan's sanity is questionable at best and this report should not put a smile on your face. This is the same man who gave Isiah Thomas an extension for getting to .500.
The report states that his emergence could mean a couple of things. It could mean that the two sides are starting to get close, and that's why the owners have been brought in to talk. More horrifying is the theory that Isiah is advising Dolan on this deal. Yeah, because Thomas did such a great job when he ran the Knicks the first time around.
The most likely theory is that Dolan wants to swoop in and take credit for this deal to try and get some good PR out of it because he's such a reviled figure in New York. No one is happy that he still holds a flame for Thomas and it's become obvious that he has no clue what he's doing.
He knows nothing about basketball and should leave this up to Donnie Walsh, a man with a proven track record of getting things done. However, that would be too simple for Dolan, who has undermined Walsh by letting him twist in the wind when it comes to his future.
I wouldn't expect anything less from one of the worst owners in professional sports.
