You think your life is tough. This woman doesn’t want to hear your whining. Canadian woman Rita Chretien was stranded in northern Nevada for 49 days and had to survive on her bag of candy and eating snow.
During a trip with her husband from British Columbia to Nevada, the couple got lost and their car got stuck. After two days, the husband left to find help but he hasn’t been heard from since.
For 49 days, Chretien ate snow, drank frozen ice and read her bible. That kept her alive despite the fact that temperatures were below freezing at night. She was discovered on Friday and has been receiving medical attention since then. She’s expected to make a full recovery.
Think about that next time you think you’re having a rough day.
It looks as though the highly controversial “Kill The Gays” law in Uganda is about to become a reality. The law has been debated in parliament for the last two days, and an affirmative vote is expected in the next 24 hours. The bill calls for making homosexuality illegal and punishable by the death penalty.
Of course, this has resulted in a vast amount of protests and uproar from the international community and those in Uganda, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping the bill from being passed. The bill will increase the penalty for “homosexual acts” from 14 years to life. It will also proposes that “aggravated homosexuality” – when one of the participants is a minor, HIV-positive, disabled or a “serial offender” – is punishable by death. Though the Ugandan government has said that the “death penalty” is being removed from the bill, but we haven’t seen evidence of that.
What would you do if your sexual orientation were suddenly punishable by death?
