The 2011 NBA Playoff Schedule Will Feature at Least One Game 7
The first round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs didn't feature a single Game Seven. The Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks went six, so did the Memphis Grizzles and San Antonio Spurs as did the LA Lakers and New Orleans Hornets....but no Game Seven's.
So the law of averages tells us we should expect at least one do-or-die game in the Conference Semi's right?
They have only played one game, but my bet is on the Memphis Grizzles and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Grizz stole Game One and the home court advantage, but the Thunder are not going down quietly. With arguably the best pure scorer in the game in Kevin Durant...expect a dogfight to the finish.
Zach Randolph, the only player in the league to average 20 points and 10 rebounds a game, terrorized the Thunder with 34 points and 10 rebounds.
Thunder head coach Scottie Brooks talked to the Associated Press after the game about how tough defending Z-Bo can be:
The one thing that I admire in his game is he’s relentless. He’s always playing the game. You just know that the loves the game. We have to do a better job of controlling him and making him miss some shots.
It’s not going to be easy, and we know that going into it, and we knew that going into this game. He scores, and he scores in bunches, and we have to do a better job with that.

The Thunder have two stars and some serious beef inside. They are far from finished.
This looks like a see-saw battle that will come down to who can handle the pressure of a Game Seven.
