Troy Niklas remains a top target for the Irish as National Signing Day approaches.
Luckily for Notre Dame, the highly touted defensive end will make his official visit this weekend.
Niklas is reportedly down to three schools, considering the Irish, Stanford and USC as his three finalists. Recent news indicates that Niklas didn’t pass admissions at Stanford, however, meaning that it’s a two-school battle between USC and Notre Dame.
Niklas, of course, was just one of the many top-flight defensive ends the Irish set their targets on during the 2011 recruiting season. The Irish currently have commitments from Aaron Lynch, Ishaq Williams, Stephon Tuitt and Anthony Rabasa.
Williams has been considered a solid candidate to move to linebacker at the next level, leaving room for Niklas. If Niklas were to commit to the Irish, you have to like the depth up front on the defensive side for Notre Dame over the next few years.
