Mitch McGary Video: Watch McGary Shatter the Glass at Elite 24

Mitch McGary is a top-five prospect in the Class of 2012, according to the ESPNU 100. As seen in the video, he shows off some amazing strength and athleticism with a monster dunk that caused the backboard to shatter into a million pieces.

It all went down at Boost Mobile Elite 24 game over the weekend: Aquille Carr set him up with a between-the-legs pass off the backboard and McGary threw it down with authority. He held onto the rim for a bit too long and the glass exploded.

McGary was able to escape any major injuries, suffering just some minor lacerations on his shoulder. He said he would stay to watch the game and head to the hospital after it ended. It could have been a lot worse after seeing him sitting on the ground in a pool of glass.

Perhaps just as entertaining as the dunk was the interview that followed. McGary admitted he had been given the nickname “White Chocolate” because he was the only white guy at the game, which features some of the highest-rated prospects in the nation.

He said that after the dunk, however, his nickname became “White Thunder.” He's known as a player with immense power under the rim, and if that video doesn't prove his reputation, nothing will.

McGary has received offers from rivals North Carolina and Duke, as well as Michigan, Maryland, Kentucky and Florida. He still has to go on official visits to most of those schools, so a decision won't likely come for some time yet, as reported by Dave Telep of ESPN Recruiting.

A natural lefty, McGary continues to develop his post game and is described as a tireless worker and relentless rebounder. He already has the requisite size to survive at the college level (6'10'', 225) and should continue to grow for a few more years.

As illustrated by the video, he's in great physical condition and should have no trouble making the transition to college ball. If he can develop a more consistent mid-range jump shot, he has to potential to be the complete post player that all coaches dream about.

Simply put, an amazing dunk by a soon-to-be amazing player.
