LeBron James sends up his support for Jim Tressel
LeBron James may have a strong opinion on Ohio State and Jim Tressel, but he’s not saying.
James has been a long time supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes and a friend to their scandal ridden quarterback Terrelle Pryor for years, and though the Ohio State Buckeyes are the epicenter of an NCAA scandal LeBron James is taking the diplomatic approach to the situation.
LeBron James told MLive.com:
Everyone in Columbus and Ohio knows how important, how great (Tressel) was for the university, so it's unfortunate. I wish him the best and the organization, the university will come back. It's one of the best universities that we have in America.
College Football 2011: 50 Things You Absolutely Will Not See this Season
While James clearly can’t agree with what Ohio State has done, you couldn’t expect any less of a response from the King himself. His line of clothing is used by the Ohio State football team and so it wouldn’t be within his own financial interests to kick the program while he’s down.
However, his claim that it’s one of the best universities that we have in America should change the have to “had.” It’s going to be a very long time before Ohio State is atop the BCS standings. What has come down is a laundry list of evils against the school. The NCAA is likely to impose severe fines.
Just don’t expect LeBron to join the list of Ohio State bashers.
