Giants vs. Panthers Saturday Night Preseason: Giants Receivers

The Giants not only lost out in the possible (and ridiculous) chance of resigning Plaxico Burress, but they failed to bring back Steve Smith, who had 107 receptions in 2009.

So finding another good option for Eli Manning will be crucial for New York this preseason.

In this game, a few players have showed good signs.

Dominick Hixon, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL, has made a team-high four receptions for 49 yards.

Devin Thomas, a former second round pick by the Redskins, has three catches and saw an earlier one go off his fingertips while diving to make what would have been a long reception.

Darius Reynaud has also added a catch and special teams return ability.

Finally, Victor Cruz, a star in last year's preseason, is back from injury this year and has made a ten yard reception and a great tackle as a special teams gunner.

Who wins this competition no one can tell yet, but there are more than a few worthy candidates (I didn't even mention rookie Jerrel Jernigan).
