Floyd Mayweather: Is Manny Pacquiao Next if Mayweather Beats Ortiz?

Floyd Mayweather Will Never Fight Manny Pacquiao, Even if he Beats Victor Ortiz

After the amazing numbers that the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley fight generated, it is obvious that there is still a real buzz about the boxing world.

The talk that has enveloped the boxing world in the last few years has been getting Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao to square off in the ring, but it looks again like the fans will have to wait.

Mayweather said on Twitter:

My fans have been waiting long enough. Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz. Sept-17 2011 for the WBC World Championship.

As nice as this is to see that Mayweather is not retired and still may consider the fight against Pacman in the future, this could be the worst road to choose.

Victor Ortiz is the WBC Welterweight title holder, and he is no slouch. If Floyd thinks he is going to walk into the ring and roll over on Ortiz, he is mistaken.

Ortiz is becoming one of the best fighters in the sport, and is in the prime of his fighting career. It has been over a year since Mayweather’s last fight, and if I was preparing to fight Pacquiao with a prep fight, it wouldn’t have been against Ortiz.

I think that Mayweather sees a chance to get the WBC welterweight belt, and then possibly turn his sites on Manny Pacquiao.

With all of that said, none of the Pacquiao talk continues and there is no huge pay day if Mayweather loses against Ortiz.
