Fantasy Football Rankings 2011: Drew Brees Most Reliable Option at QB

I'm a fan of Drew Brees. Still, if I was starting an NFL franchise, he'd probably be the fourth quarterback I would want. As great as Brees is, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers would all get the nod.

Mike Vick is great, but his injury history is a little troubling. That logic applies to Vick's fantasy value as well.

As a matter of fact, if I had to choose one fantasy quarterback, Brees would be my man.

His five years in New Orleans have been nothing short of brilliant. Brees has averaged 4,583 yards, 31 touchdowns, and just under 16 interceptions.

I will concede that the interception total is too high, but the other number more than make up for it. Keep in mind, fantasy is purely about stats. It doesn't matter when in the game the stats came, or whether or not they came in a dome, the numbers are all that matter.

Brees plays in a dome. Yeah, the numbers may not look as impressive as Brady or Rodgers, who both play in cold weather, outdoor stadiums, but that doesn't matter.

Depending on how many teams are in your league, you should look for the playoffs to start in week 13. It may be week 14, but let's start at week 13 and look at New Orleans' schedule.

Week 13-Home against Detroit

Week 14-At Tennessee

Week 15-At Minnesota (dome)

Week 16-Home against Atlanta.

Week 17 is frequently skipped, but the Saints are home against the Panthers there.

Brees will be a points machine at the end of the year, when the playoffs are in full swing. He plays in a pass heavy offense with a deep group of receivers, and in a dome.

Brady and Rodgers are great, but playing in cold weather stadiums in tough divisions could hurt their numbers.

Manning is great and also in a dome, but his health is a growing question mark.

If you’re looking for a quarterback to go with, Brees is your most reliable bet. He’ll give you consistent numbers to build on.
