Efrain Escudero Replaces TJ Grant, Meets Jacob Volkmann at UFC 141
Efrain Escudero is 18-3 as a Mixed Martial Artist with a 3-2 run in the UFC, but he's back and coming for Jacob Volkmann at UFC 141.
That is, of course, unless Volkmann has anything to say about it, and on every given Saturday since two losses at Welterweight to Martin Kampmann and Paulo Thiago, "Christmas" had a lot to say about it.
MMA Junkie reports that Escudero is back in the UFC and replacing TJ Grant, the 17-5 prospect with the 4-3-0 UFC record who suffered an undisclosed injury and has been forced from his UFC 141 date with Volkmann on December 30.
UFC officials confirmed the change earlier today, so for those of you who are regular visitors to UFC.com, do not be fooled by the graphic that still shows Volkmann vs. Grant, because the match has indeed been changed.
Escudero is famed for wins over Phillipe Nover, Cole Miller and Dan Lauzon, but a shocking loss to Evan Dunham was followed by Escudero coming in at 159 pounds for a scheduled Lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares.
After coming in at the weight of an undersized Welterweight and losing to Charles Oliveira, Escudero was cut from the UFC, but five wins and only one loss to Fabricio Camoes punched Escudero's comeback ticket to the UFC.
Escudero was slated to fight 4-1 Houston-based prospect Jeff "The Executioner" Rexroad at the HDNet-televised Legacy Fighting Championships 9 in Houston next week, but local fans and Legacy FC supporters alike are now free to anticipate Escudero's scratch from the card and a replacement for Rexroad, who rides a three-fight win streak and has fought his entire career under the Legacy Promotions banner.
