College Football Rankings 2011: Biggest Disparities Between AP and Coaches Polls

Once again the AP Top 25 Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll have some big differences that don't seem to be right.

The first thing you notice is Oklahoma is still No.1 in the Coaches Poll despite not having as many quality wins as Alabama or LSU. The Tigers did move up one spot over Alabama but the Sooners need to prove more before we have them as the No.1 team in the country.

Another thing I don't understand is how Michigan State is still ranked in the Coaches Poll. I know they're 4-1 but they haven't looked impressive at all. They got their heads beaten in by Notre Dame a few weeks ago and only beat Ohio State by three points. They have a week off before they play Michigan, but that game will tell us more about this team.

There are several other teams that are ranked three or four spots different but for the most part everything is pretty much the same. This is another week where it seems that the AP Poll has got it right while the Coaches Poll still needs to wake up and start voting for who actually deserves their ranking.
