The Daily Mirror reports this morning that Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin is looking to engineer a move to Chelsea.
The 25 year-old Uruguayan may have had enough of playing for a relatively unglamorous and unsuccessful team and believes a move to England could enhance his prospects of winning a trophy.
Tall and comfortable on the ball, Godin could be an excellent counterpart to the more robust duo John Terry and Alex Rodrigo.
"For Chelsea to still be interested in having me is an honour and means I must be playing well. Who would not want to play there? To do so would be a step up'', he told The Mirror. The Londoners are looking to reduce their wage bill and may look to sell players such as Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Yuri Zhirkov before they start to buy but the deal may still go through soon.
