Breaking News: Key LSU Players Suspended for SEC Showdown with Auburn
It has been reported by LSU beat writer Randy Rosettta that as many as three Tigers starters, including RB Spencer Ware and DB Tyrann Mathieu, will be suspended for their upcoming game against Auburn.
Ware is LSU's starting tailback and leads the Tigers in rushing yards (512), total yards from scrimmage (564), and Touchdown's (7) on the season.
Mathieu is one of LSU's starting corners and arguably it's best impact player on defense and special teams, having forced six turnovers and scoring two touchdown's on the season.
It is rumored that the reason behind the suspension is a failed drug test, but it is unclear as of this time exactly what they tested positive for.
Look for sophomore running back Mike Ford to take the bulk of the carries Saturday in Ware's absence, and it is presumed that senior corner Ron Brooks and sophomore Tharold Simon will see increased action covering Auburn's wide receivers.
It is also unclear what the duration of these suspensions will be. If the suspensions are more than one game, LSU will be without several of their key players for its matchup with Alabama on November 5th. This would be a huge loss for the Tigers, as this matchup likely will decide who represents the SEC in it's conference championship, and possibly the BCS National Championship.
