Brazil vs. Mexico: Why Young Brazilians Will Top Mexico in Semifinals
The Brazilians are the heavily favored team in a semifinal match up with the U-20 Mexican squad for good reason. The Brazilians proved their might when they downed a very skilled and dangerous Spanish side in penalty kicks. The Brazilians have a lot of weapons on the field, but none more important than the man between the pipes, Gabriel. The Brazilians will show why they are the favored team and halt a streaking Mexican side.
Mexico had a lovely showing against the host country Colombia, but in truth Colombia was nothing more than an average soccer club and they took care of business. Mexico was able to control the flow of the game and show how dangerous their attack can be.
Mexico has gotten to where they are with a rock solid defense, giving up only three goals all tournament. However, they face one of the most, if not the most, potent offensive attack in the world. Brazil has scored 13 goals in the tournament and they have found goals from a variety of attacking forwards.
Brazil simply has too many options up top and they are too strong between the pipes. Gabriel flexed his muscle stopping two penalty kicks against Spain. Many believe that this will be a true under dog story and they will surprise the Brazilians, almost sneak up on them.
The Brazilians just had their best showing of the year against the next best team in this tournament, there is no way that Mexico will break through the back line before the Brazilian side does. The country of Mexico have had a lot of success in the last few months with the senior side winning the Gold Cup, and the U-17's winning their World Cup.
A trifecta will not be in the mix for Mexico even though they are a very talented squad, but Brazil has too much fire power in too many locations on the field. Mexico will have to play their very best game and even then it will be a battle to the end to knock the heavyweight that is Brazil.
