Bowl Projections: The 3 Best Matchups for the National Championship Game

With three weeks left in the season, it’s going to be very interesting to see which two teams emerge from the pack and end up in New Orleans for the BCS national championship game.

Even though there’s still a lot of football left to be played, here’s a look at the three best possible national championship pairings.

1. LSU vs. Oklahoma State

These are the only two undefeated BCS teams that are left, No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Oklahoma, and each happen to have completely different styles.

LSU plays shut down defense and then tries to methodically pound the ball down the other teams’ throat, while Oklahoma State loves to air it out and then hope its defense can hold.

It’s always better to see two undefeated teams clash in the big game, and right now, this is best possible pairing for the BCS championship game.

2. LSU vs. Oregon

This is the rematch that wasn’t getting much play until this week, but personally, it’s the one I want to see most.

Oregon is a completely different team than the one we saw back in Week 1, and there may not be a team that’s playing better football than the Ducks right now.

Now that De’Anthony Thomas is all grown up, Darron Thomas is playing more consistentl and LaMicahel James is fully healthy, it would be interesting to see what the Oregon offense could do against the Tigers in a rematch.

3. LSU vs. Alabama

OK, so the “Game of the Century” didn’t exactly live up to the hype, but it also didn’t dispel the idea that these two teams are the best in the country.

These are still clearly the two best defenses in college football, and they proved that in Tuscaloosa back on Nov. 5.

A 9-6 game isn’t for everybody, though,, and some people could be turned off by watching another defensive struggle in the biggest game of the season.
