Arsenal Transfer News: Samir Nasri Set for £23 Million Move to Manchester City
He's been one of the stars of the transfer window, and it looks like Arsenal's Samir Nasri is finally going to get the move away from the club he wanted. A £23 million move to Manchester City appears to be just days, possibly hours, away.
According to reports, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has "green-lighted" the sale of both Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, who will join Barcelona in the new few days for a fee somewhere between £35m and £37m.
The news ends a summer of seemingly endless speculation over the two players' futures. For more on Fabregas see the slide below.
As for Nasri, Manchester City are said to have agreed a salary of £185,000/week with the French international midfielder and are hopeful of getting everything wrapped up before their Premier League campaign begins with the visit of Swansea City.
Nasri has made no secret of his desire to leave Arsenal, talking up his desire to win trophies and continue his development.
'With no titles under your belt, you can't be in list for Ballon D'Or. I came to England for trophies because I've not won anything in my career, apart from an Under 17 European Championship in 2004," he said in July.
Some suggest his motivations are purely financial however. Former Arsenal captain Frank McLlintock said as much in an interview for Talksport recently.
