2012 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay Says Brandon Jenkins to Jets at No. 25
2012 NFL Mock Draft Sees Jets Defense Add Another Stud
24th Choice: New York Jets select Brandon Jenkins, DE, Florida State
McShay's McExplanation:
Jenkins is a throwback Florida State pass-rusher with the frame (6-3, 234) to fit nicely on the outside in a 3-4 scheme like New York's. His 13.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2010 were the most on a team that led nation with 48 sacks.
We shouldn't be surprised to see this type of pick.
Rex Ryan is going to live and die by the play (and pressure) of his front seven and with Muhammad Wilkerson they've gotten younger and better at the defensive line already. Adding Jenkins, who should be able to replace Bryan Thomas, a 32-year-old free agent next spring, and make that pass rush even better.

The Jets would probably have preferred another safety or corner here, but considering the run on corners that's already taken place on this mock, they'll likely have to go with Plan B selection.
Still, depending on what kind of season Jenkins has in 2011, he could be long gone by this selection.
