2011 NFL Mock Draft: The Atlanta Falcons Need a Wide Receiver in Day Two
The Falcons Reload For Another Playoff Run
The Atlanta Falcons, like the Kansas City Chiefs, need another elite wide receiver.
Both teams have the same problem in that they have truly dominant wide receiver standing head and shoulders above the rest of the gang. This is a good problem to have, but it does present a problem because that receiver tends to draw double coverage.
While that theoretically should open the field up elsewhere, it usually is for short yardage, which does not do your team much good if your only target is three yards out on 3rd-and-seven.
With Leonard Hankerson, the Falcons can plug him in opposite Roddy White and see if he can keep up. We no longer are in the first round and Hankerson presents a few more questions.
This all is relative, of course, as elite wide receivers can be found in later rounds much easier than a quarterback or a running back.
A second-round pick still should produce his rookie season, though, so the expectations are there.
