2011 NFL Mock Draft: Seattle Seahawks Pass on Jake Locker at No. 25

Previous Pick: Derek Sherrod

Seattle is in a perfect position to draft Jake Locker late in the first round. However, I do not think that the Seahawks care for him too much and I think they like a player like Andy Dalton or Ryan Mallett better.

Instead, the Seahawks draft someone who can protect whomever their new QB may be. Derek Sherrod is a big OT who can play in the NFL right away. He was a four year starter at Mississippi State where he played 50 games.

His speed and size make him an intriguing prospect. He is a better pass blocker than a run blocker.

Sherrod played LT in college, but will probably have to play RT for the Seahawks because they already have Russell Okung.

If the Seahawks are serious about drafting a QB, the second round might be their opportunity. They could trade down and pick up a few extra picks and still get the guy they want. With the extra picks, they could also fill other needs along the offensive and defensive lines.
