2011 NBA Mock Draft: Marshon Brooks Looks to Be the Steal of the Draft

Before the draft combine in Chicago, Marshon Brooks was widely viewed as a fringe first-rounder who would have been lucky to hear his named called before pick 25.

But now, Brooks could very well find himself inside the top 20. Brooks' athleticism is off the charts, and at 6'5" and 195 lbs, he is another player who is ready to step in from day one and compete with the big boys.

Although there may be some concerns about how he'll fare against stiffer competition after playing at Providence, Brooks really did himself a favor by bringing his A game when it mattered most and displaying his arsenal last week in Illinois.

Despite being a shooting guard, Brooks' insane 7'1" wing span has teams salivating over his sky-high potential. His ability to score in bunches and extraordinary length make him an ideal perimeter player for any team that desperately need a scorer.

If he plays in the NBA the way that he showed he could at Providence, there's no doubt that Brooks will be labeled one of the biggest steals (if not the biggest) among a watered down group of draft candidates in 2011.
